About

Noëlle O’Connor is Senior Lecturer in Tourism and Hospitality Studies in Limerick Institute of Technology.  Previously, Noëlle was the Acting Head of Department of Languages, Tourism and Hospitality in Waterford Institute of Technology and has lectured for many years in Dublin Institute of Technology.  Noëlle is currently an extern examiner for the University of the West of Scotland (Paisley), Glasgow, Scotland, Athlone Institute of Technology and Tralee Institute of Technology (Ireland) and she also has a wide range of industrial experience, having worked in the Irish, British, French and Austrian hospitality industries.  Noëlle was also the Chair of Editorial Board for the recently published book; Tourism and Hospitality Research in Ireland (2007).

RESEARCH INTERESTS
Noëlle’s main research interest is examining the impact of film induced tourism on a tourist destination.  With this in mind she has recently created a Film Marketing Action Plan (FMAP) for film induced tourism destinations, using Yorkshire (U.K.) as the case study area.  Finally, Noëlle is in the process of devising a research plan to investigate the role of the female academic within tourism education and research both in Ireland and the UK
